Home Feng Shui Tips to Reduce Stress
For many, the home is a place to relax and unwind from the stress of the workplace. This is why many people look forward to the comfort of their home daily. It is also possible to turn our house into a therapeutic haven using some of the Feng Shui tips listed below.

Contrary to many people’s opinions, Feng Shui doesn’t just improve your luck, but can also improve your health, relationships and so on. In any case, there’s no harm trying the following home decoration tips to reduce tensions and destress:

1) Keep the entrance clean and clutter free. Do not store any sharp tools like knives or scissors at the doorway and instead, decorate the entrance with carved objects made with natural materials like wood or stone.

2) Hang paintings at your entrance. Preferably, start with serene and calming paintings of nature, scenery, fruits and flowers done in cool pastel colours. You can also hang a mirror at the entrance as long as it’s not facing the entrance

3) Don’t put books in your bedroom. The bedroom should be a place of unwinding for the day and not a place to be reminded of work, so try to not have any magazines or documents in your bedroom.

4) Fill your home with calming colours. Calming colours include earthy, pastel colours like baby blue, beige, off white, soft pink, lavender and light green. You can include pillow covers, cushions, plates, cupboards and drawers in these colours or paint your walls in these colours.

5) Don’t Put Your Bed on the Floor. It’s important to have energy flow beneath your bed to regenerate your inner strength as you sleep, therefore you should try to sleep on a raised bed and not on a mattress on the floor.

6) Avoid Large Bulky Furniture in the Living Room. Large furniture is believed to block the healthy flow of energy from the entrance, so try to adopt lightweight furniture made with natural material like wood, metal, bamboo and rattan. These furniture should also not be boxy with sharp edges but rounded with natural curves.

7) Keep Workspaces separate. If you bring work home, or if you work from home, make sure you have a separate and dedicated workspace away from places like the dining room, bedroom and living room.

8) Clean the Air. Having fresh air in the house is very important for destressing. Occasionally, put on some essential oils on the burner or use an electrical air purifier to help remove air pollutants.

9) Create a Comfort Area. A comfort spot is your own corner of the house where there is a lot of ‘soft’ items like carpets, pillows, cushions and throws where you can curl up and read your favourite book, surf the net or watch TV.
