Developers urged toform auxiliary police units
KLANG: Developers should take the initiative to set up their own auxiliary police units to enhance security in their development projects, says Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Comm Datuk Rusli Ahmad.

He said they could help by becoming the authorities’ eyes and ears to deter crimes, as the police had limited manpower.

“Such initiatives are very much welcomed and I call on others to emulate those who have done so,” he said after officiating the Sime Darby Property auxiliary police station in Bandar Bukit Raja yesterday.

Comm Rusli said 11 applications for auxiliary police station had been received for various properties nationwide so far and the police were looking into them.

The police, he said, would also study the possibility of allowing auxiliary police stations to receive reports from the public in future.

Sime Darby Property chief operating officer Datuk Wan Hashimi Albakri said the police had approved 300 vacancies of auxiliary police for Bandar Bukit Raja and 42 had been sent for training so far.

“At present, 25 personnel have been posted for duty around the 1,618ha Bandar Bukit Raja township, which is still being developed.

“They will be working on shifts, patrolling residential and commercial areas,” he said.
