10,000 Affordable Houses To Be Built In Stages In Perak By 2018 - Zambry

IPOH, May 19 (Bernama) -- Some 10,000 units of affordable houses under the Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) projects will be built in stages by 2018.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, who is also PKNPk chairman, said the projects would not be concentrated on any one area based solely on its economic growth, but would also be implemented in the rural areas.
PKNPk's goal is to raise the living standard of the people and this is one example of the 'people first' concept and not just about making profits.
This is also one of the efforts at ensuring the projects are implemented in the best possible way and fair housing distribution for all districts in the state.
Zambry said this to reporters after launching two Phase One affordable housing projects under the 'Rumahku Aman Jaya Bandar Meru Raya' programme, here, today. Also present was PKNPk chief executive officer, Datuk Aminuddin Md Desa.
The two housing schemes are D'Aman Residensi and Casa Kayangan, to be developed in Meru Raya here, which are part of the state's overall affordable housing development programme.
Under Phase One, 1,704 units of affordable houses will be built and priced at RM145,000 to RM166,000 per unit for the D'Aman Residensi scheme and RM250,000 to RM299,000 per unit for the Casa Kayangan scheme.
Zambry said the role played by government agencies like PKNPk, Yayasan Bina Upaya and Housing Division of the State Secretariat would at the same time be strengthened.
He said PKNPk was sensitive to the need of the low and middle-income earners, for quality, affordable houses with attractive contemporary designs.
"We also want to encourage Bumiputera house ownership in the new townships like Meru Raya," he added.
