PETALING JAYA: Tropicana Corp Bhd’s flood mitigation system located at its Lido Waterfront Boulevard development in Johor is ready for handover to the local authority.

Built by its subsidiary, Lido Waterfront Boulevard Sdn Bhd, the flood mitigation system is aimed at preventing flood problems from Sungai Chat and Sungai Abdul Samad.

Tropicana said in a statement that the construction of the system was completed in December 2020 and has been thoroughly checked.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad appreciated Tropicana’s efforts to build the flood mitigation system for the community.

“By having this flood mitigation system, it will help to ease the flood problem that we have faced over the years at the upstream of Sungai Chat and Sungai Abdul Samad.

“This system is beneficial to our Johor community, ” he said.

Meanwhile, Tropicana group CEO Lee Han Ming thanked Johor Baru City Council for its support in the project.

“This newly built flood mitigation system is well-equipped to trap garbage and prevent it from flowing into the sea.

“This will also help to improve water quality, ending pollution, and saving marine lives.

“To ensure the system works properly, we have also installed a pump control board and SCADA/CCTV monitor system in the pump control room, ” said Lee.

The 163-acre Lido Waterfront Boulevard is an integrated waterfront mixed development and features a mix of residential serviced apartments, hotels, offices, retail shopping, a recreational facility, public park and a cultural centre.
