Section 4 is a residential area in the Petaling Jaya district. Petaling Jaya city was originally developed as a satellite township for Kuala Lumpur consisting of mostly residential and some industrial areas. The north eastern corner over at the junction of Jalan Templer and Jalan Selangor is given over to Assunta Hospital and 2 schools.

However, Section 4 is still maintained as residential with supporting commercial facilities, including a wet market at the southwest corner. There are a number of religious buildings located in or around Section 4, some which includes the Emmanuel Baptist Church, the Masjid Jamik Sultan Abdul Aziz and a Hindu temple.

Living in Section 4 of Petaling Jaya does not get much better than the variety of options to eat, play, entertain or simply relax as it strategically situated not too far away but still allows for privacy. The overall population of Petaling Jaya have a wide selection of traditional shops as well as a choice of several medium to large shopping complexes to fulfil all the above mentioned needs.

The shops are situated at various strategic locations such as SS2, Damansara Utama, Kelana Jaya, Damansara Jaya, Taman Megah, SS3, Section 14, SEA Park, PJ New Town and PJ Old Town. In addition, one is able to visit the night markets or "pasar malam" to try a variety of cheap local food. There is one in SS2, every Monday night and another one in section 17 every Tuesday night.

Transportation for residents of Section 4 is also a breeze with public ones available such as through RapidKL and Putra LRT.
